We’re still on cloud nine after Kestrel Design Group won Best of Show at Prêt-à-Porter 2024! Now, we’re excited to share these stunning images and share more of the story and details over the next couple of weeks. 🎉
Our design, The Land Beneath the Rose, was inspired by the rich history and culture of #Cheyenne, created in collaboration with the Eastern Shoshone Cultural Center. Through the use of MDC Interior Solutions products, we deconstructed wallcovering yarns, sculpted acoustic materials, and crocheted dyed threads to reflect the beauty, resilience, and strength of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe. The wild red rose motif symbolizes the land’s natural beauty and the Tribe's enduring spirit. 🌹

BEST OF SHOW?! Someone pinch us! ✨️
We are honored to have received Best in Show at the @iidarmc Pret-a-Porter 2024 show this past Friday. It was whirlwind of blood, sweat, tears and ultimately, love, that helped us create this garment. We are beyond honored to have had our model and her family, members of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe in Wyoming on the Wind River Reservation, join us on Friday. We are so honored that the Tribe offered advice, spoke to us about what was important to convey, and partnered with us from the very start of this process. 🌹
Thank you to @nomacolorado for the Land Acknowledgement that recognized the Tribes in Colorado and surrounding areas as the original stewards of the land. It did not go unnoticed.

For our fall feature, we are celebrating our very own Creative Director, Angela Harness! Angela just celebrated her 8 year anniversary of joining Kestrel Design Group last month and has been an integral part of the evolution of Kestrel from the onset. Not only has she developed our branding and beautiful website, she has also gotten us all addicted to the science of house plants and turned our office into a jungle oasis. 🌿
As our longest tenured NCIDQ certified Interior Designer, she has left her mark on countless projects and helped to hone the level of design detail that we have become known for in the industry. Her focus on strategy, research, workplace and hybrid design has opened new doors and helped build Kestrel's team into a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention, she's a mentor to many and a wonderful friend.
Angela enjoys taking care of her vast rare plant collection, as well as adventuring the world with her new husband Logan. They are renovating a beautiful mid-century home where they enjoy hanging out with their two dogs Leo and Picard, three cats Clyde, Lil and Baloo, and chameleon Gizmo. 🦎

The Kestrel crew had a blast at Visual Interest's Sparklab trade show last week! We had a great time clowning around and checking out some great new products while we participated in a super fun scavenger hunt (the balloon animals are a major plus for our office decor).
And though we tried and failed to hit the target and send our friend Chris Berry into the dunk tank, we felt good knowing we donated to an amazing charity in the process!💡

This has been a truly amazing experience to be thoughtfully detailed in our selections of not only finishes, but lighting, furniture and more. We love the texture and richness that comes through these finishes and are so excited to see this office space come to life.
Not only are we drawing inspiration from the earth, we’re committed to using materials that are made from recycled content, can be recycled back to the earth and are working with partners that are committed to the same across the board. More to come as this design unfolds.

Presenting… Sashco! Who knew one of the job responsibilities of Interior Designers would be knowing how to time the correct walk during a photoshoot? 📸
Our team had so much fun working on this project. From start to finish, working on this family owned office, lab and production plant was both challenging and rewarding. We brought the history of Sashco to life through design.
The final touches like custom Sashco blue architectural wall frames, signage and the retro palette showcases their brand in a truly incredible way.

Mile High Flood District wanted a new home to celebrate 50 years of serving Denver and surrounding areas. As an organization, they are dedicated to the protecting people, property and the environment through stream preservation and flood management, so it was a natural decision that the color story throughout their space lean into greens, blues and purples - the natural and soothing colors of water.
This two-story structure came with open stairwells and a central atrium space that provided design inspiration from the beginning. It is now a place of design inspiration full of organic patterns, neutral textures and colorful graphics and murals that harken to nature and stand out boldly. What better way to bring the outside, in?🌿

Today we celebrate Catherine Quintero, Principal at Kestrel Design Group. She celebrates 43 years of her career as an Interior Designer, making amazing spaces, creating relationships and making space for women to excel in this industry.
Catherine has been with us for 4 years and today we are so both so proud and saddened to announce her retirement and give her a Lifetime Achievement award. Our design goal was to elevate the @milehighflooddistrict brand, placing their core values, culture, and water-centric mission at the forefront. To achieve this, we seamlessly integrated the natural imagery of water, rocks and trees using the principles of biophilia. This connected people with nature by bridging the gap between the outdoors and indoors, creating a harmonious environment that reflects the essence of working with the water that surrounds us.

Let's talk about the @iidarmc TEA talk this week! Our Interior Designer, Brooke Barlond, spilled it. We couldn't be more proud of our amazing team and their bravery navigating the current world we're living in, while constantly pushing design boundaries and being open to learning from others.
For those who haven't met Brooke, she's a fixture on our team and brings a perspective we wouldn't ever want to be without, both for life and for design. Brooke attributes her love of history and architecture to her hometown of Marshall, Michigan, which is home to one of the largest historic districts in the nation. She's a true Midwesterner who has a lot of pride in being from the Mitten.
Brooke loves to learn new things and “fun facts” about the world around her – something that drives her to dig deeper into the projects she works on. For last year's Birdie Awards (The Office, anyone?), Brooke received the Encyclopedia Brookanicca award. There simply couldn't be a better fit or a better play on words.

Throughout the pandemic, hybrid spaces were becoming more and more popular. However, Envision decided that not only did they want to adopt specific parts of a hybrid culture, they were ready to dive in headfirst. The result is a completely flexible and movable work environment where everyone can choose the type of seat that works best for them on any given day.

1,935 pairs of socks were donated through our Socktober event. They were sorted and delivered prior to the holidays and the cold vortex the country just experienced!

It's the end of the year and time for celebration. We're reflecting on all we have achieved this year and some amazing projects that we've had the pleasure of using our full creative set of tools and team on.
Black Knight is one of those projects: a monochromatic masterpiece with dark navy blue and rust colored accents to stand out against the neutral backdrop. The angular patterns and soft shapes make walking the entire perimeter of the hexagon shaped space both cohesive and dynamic. You never know what's just around the corner.

We love working with the character of buildings and making the design accentuate those features rather than hide them. Envision Healthcare's nearly complete office features beautiful paned glass windows, a sloping wood ceiling deck and (best of all) bright red fire sprinkler equipment that is visible from the open office and break room area.
